HISTORY OF WALSINGHAM

In 1981, following a very successful marketing career spanning more than 20 years in Australia and overseas Geoff. Weule resigned from EMI RECORDS and founded a marketing consultancy business, WALSINGHAM.

WALSINGHAM was to focus primarily on the Entertainment and Music Industry. It adopted a motto; Visione Sanus (Sound in Vision) and now after 30 years it continues to provide expert marketing advice and services to a large cross-section of the music and entertainment industry.

The first major client WALSINGHAM took on board was Independent Productions an Australian based film production house. WALSINGHAM became responsible for marketing their productions all over the world and in so doing they became the first Australian production house to sell a mini-series to an American network.

In 1982 WALSINGHAM consulted to the Chinese Government on Film Co-production ventures. This project was undertaken in conjunction with the Australian Film Commission.

In 1985 WALSINGHAM developed and launched DIRECT VIDEO, Australia’s first non-theatrical sell through video production company. As a result WALSINGHAM teamed up with Catersons Pty Ltd who in turn was associated with Pin-Point Marketing. Major clients being American Express Inc, The America’s Cup, and Bond University.

In 1988 WALSINGHAM and CATERSONS, in association with the Seven Network, were responsible for the CELEBRATION OF AUSTRALIA DAY video which became an all-time best seller.

In 1989 WALSINGHAM was appointed marketing consultants to the WINNS GROUP of Companies. The World Record Club, The Recorded Book Club, Wonderworks, Direct Video, Golden Press, and Framed Prints were just some of the companies owned and operated by the group.

Then in 1992 WALSINGHAM was appointed to consult and manage Larrikin Entertainment and after four years of rapid growth Larrikin merged with Festival Mushroom Records (FMR).

THE PRESENT.

WALSINGHAM continues to provide and service a large client base, clients with a need to profitably grow their business in today’s challenging world.

A full range of Integrated Marketing Communications is provided with special emphasis being placed on new project development, pricing, and premium value added marketing.

Geoffrey Weule JP - BMus (Perf) Melb; Adv Dip Music Industry (Business); Cert in Retail Management; Cert IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.

After 50 years of working in the Entertainment and Music Industry Geoff continues to provide the market with a diverse range of marketing services and skills.

He has been at the forefront with many industry marketing firsts and has helped shape the early careers of many now very successful artists including; AC/DC, Little River Band, John Farnham, Julie Anthony, Mark Holden, Blak Genius, and Heifer.

WALSINGHAM has recently been commissioned to undertake the marketing for the proposed Blue Mountains Performing Arts Centre.

After eight years Geoff recently retired from lecturing in Music Business Studies at TAFE ENTERTAINMENT. He continues to do guest lecturing at SAE/Qantm Colleges where he is also on the Academic Board. Geoff is also actively involved with several community charity and service organisations including being Vice-President of the Blue Mountains Performing Arts Association, President of the Blue Mountains Wildplant Rescue Foundation and Treasurer of Publish! Blue Mountains. He is a current member of the NSW Justices Association Nepean Branch and is a member of the Blue Mountains Local Advisory Panel to Roza Sage MP Member for Blue Mountains.
